Momentum is a local charity working in SW London and Surrey providing support to children with cancer or life-limiting conditions, and their families. Being told your child is seriously ill is devastating. Day-to-day life is turned upside down. Momentum supports the entire family during times of unimaginable strain – the children and their parents, but also siblings and grandparents - for as long as is needed. At any one time, they are supporting 150 families in the local community. Momentum prides itself on knowing all families individually, and offering personalised, tailored help. Through their family support programme, they offer emotional and practical help as well as a range of therapy services including music, dance and drama. They aim to ease some of the stresses that come with a gruelling treatment plan, so provide trips, treats and respite holidays. They also work hand in hand with local hospitals including Kingston, Epsom and St Peter’s (close to The Wisley Golf Club) to dramatically transform the facilities and healing environment for children during hospital stays. The Wisley Foundation, in partnership with The Lockwood Charitable Foundation, refurbished the children's oncology ward in St Peter’s Hospital in 2017 and this year we have completed the upgrade of the isolation room at Epsom hospital.
